  1. Initially a Consultant then Advisor and eventually shareholder in a holding company responsible for commercialising a revolutionary new heavy engineering technology globally in the real estate and civil markets of buildings, stadiums and bridges.

  2. Role involved establishing a local office in Dubai (where I was the GM), helping establish North American (Phoenix) and Asia (Shanghai) manufacturing presence and advising on developing regional manufacturing partners while based out of Dubai and supporting existing group offices in Ottawa, Singapore and London.

  3. Was instrumental in creating high-rise and commercial property opportunities for the technology globally with some of the worlds leading architectural and engineering firms.

  4. Provided strategic development management consultancy on 2 major developments in Cape Town with 1 in the lower Foreshore area and the other a major urban regeneration project.

  5. Commissioned to produce a high-rise project assessment in the Lower Foreshore area of Cape Town for the city of Cape Town.

  6. Provided strategic project sustainability recommendations on a major new Cape Town landmark development project including advising on selection of consultants.

  7. Commissioned to write a detailed commercial assessment of the greater Foreshore precinct, which tied in with the economic impact assessment models, created by the city and support the cities Urban Development Framework (UDF).

$800 Mil MENA Sharia Hotel Fund (Middle East and North Africa Property Fund)

 

  1. 2-year contract as a Non Executive Director of a 4 + 4 year $800 Mil hotel investment fund based in Manama and managed out of Paris for the roll out of a new start up 5 Star regional hotel chain across the MENA region as well as key cities in Europe and Asia. 15 Hotels were being developed simultaneously in Cairo, Dubai, Muscat, Kuwait City, Jeddah, Riyadh, Manama, Doha, Beirut, London, Geneva, Marrakech, Casablanca, Kuala Lumpur and Paris.

  2. Guidance Financial Group also established the Shaza brand hotel management company in a joint venture with Kempinski Hotels and developed their own properties as well as taking operator positions in others.

  3. Setting up of the company in Dubai as GM and establishment of all financial and legal entities.

  4. Role included assessing all sites, master planning, concept designs, feasibility studies, all consultant selection and managing all design activities on fund developed properties.
